Dr. Sakesha Y. Caston, Optometrist
Initiated by the need for corrective lenses while in middle school, the seed to become an eye care professional was planted at an early age for Dr. Sakesha Caston. She matriculated through North Carolina Central University with honors to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She received her Doctorate of Optometry Degree in May 2000 from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO). While in school, she was awarded the National Optometric Student Association Convention Scholarship Award. She is certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry in the Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease.
Driven by a passion to be of service to all people, Dr. Caston has fulfilled this desire by participating in medical mission trips to Jamaica in both 2002 and 2003. While in Jamaica, Dr. Caston was part of a medical team that provided services to those who otherwise would not have access to health care. Not wanting to neglect vision care here at home, Dr. Caston also participated in Onesight’s Richmond Mission Clinic in 2009 which provided hundreds of children with eye exams and glasses.
In addition to practicing full-time at MJS Family Eyecare, Dr. Caston works part-time as a clinical examiner for the National Center of Clinical Testing in Optometry (NCCTO) of the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO).
Dr. Caston is an active member of the American Optometric Association, The South Carolina Optometric Physicians Association, the Catawba Optometric Society, and the Rock Hill Lions Club. Dr. Caston is also a board member of the small business council of the York County Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Caston is NBEO board certified in optometry.
